Taking your own steps toward a bright future starts with having footsteps to follow. Through BIU’s leadership programming, we offer opportunities for students to connect with mentors and for successful change agents to become mentors. We also honor those who are making a difference through leadership. Programming includes:
The Lead 2 Achieve Mentorship Program invites professionals to give back to students attending their alma maters. Each year, Usama Young identifies 3-5 successful and professional adults to mentor deserving students who are in need of a go-to guide.
In 2015, Usama brought on the following mentors, to be paired with 5 deserving young students at the 2015 Charity Weekend. Several of the mentors are former Division I student-athletes and
current & former professional athletes. They include:
The Believe In U Awards Program will honor community leaders that have paved the way for youth to eventually take the throne and be our future world leaders. These individuals will be
recognized during the Believe In U Annual Charity Weekend. The award categories include:
Athletic Director of the Year
Coach of the Year
Teacher of the Year

- Leigh Bodden: Northwestern High School, Duquesne University, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, New England Patriots (2003-2011)
- Derrick Williams: Eleanor Roosevelt High School, Penn State University, Detroit Lions, Pittsburg Steelers (2009-2012)
- Josh Morgan: H.D. Woodson High School, Virginia Tech University, San Francisco 49ers, Washington, Chicago Bears, (2008-2014)
